Willem Rebergen: Hey, there. This is Headhunterz and you are watching Student Aesthetics, My Shredded Lifestyle Episode 5.

Merijn Schoeber: What is going on, guys? And welcome to the fifth episode of my Shredded Lifestyle. I got us going well. This morning I actually woke up a little bit heavier than yesterday. That is something that happens during cutting phase. You know, weight fluctuates throughout the week. I did have like the majority of my food intake yesterday, like right before I went to bed, like pretty late at night. Also, I fit in a McFlurry, so it was kind of like high in sodium, high in sugar, so I may have stored more water today. You know, weight fluctuates, that’s why you want to – that’s why I weigh myself every single day and I take a weekly average. I look at how much weight do you lose per week because on the daily, it can fluctuate a lot. With that said, it’s 11:30 right now. We’re on the road heading to Haarlem in the Netherlands to get things started.

So, the plan for today, heading to Haarlem because a friend of mine lives there, Willem, who is better known to some of you guys as DJ Headhunterz. And it’s – it’s actually funny because he was watching my videos for a while and he shot me a DM a couple of weeks ago and we got talking a lot. And so, we met up for the first-time last week. We hung out for pretty much the whole day. It was super fun.

And I’m going to be his trainer so I’m going to help him get in the best shape of his life. And it’s going to be awesome. I’m super excited and I’m going to take you guys kind of through the process a little bit as well as far as his diet and training goes. Like last week, I shot a picture and put it on Instagram together with him. And people absolutely lost their shit because it’s funny how two worlds get together. You know, obviously the music industry and the fitness industry. We’re both from the Netherlands, so – you know, a lot of people have been following the both of us but, you know, it’s kind of like funny to see us together. So that’s why I decided today I’m actually going to shoot a vlog with him because I know a lot of you are excited for that. So, it’s going to be fun.

All right, so we’re going to start off today by doing a workout and we’re going to train legs today because Willem actually has a little injury in his biceps. So, this Friday he’s going to do another check. We haven’t hit – you haven’t hit your upper body for a week now, right?

Willem Rebergen: Nope.

Merijn Schoeber: Took like a week rest, did legs every other day. How has it been?

Willem Rebergen: It has been hell.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: I was actually on tour, so I had to walk, you know, through airports every day and I was like telling myself like no excuses, no excuses. But it was – it was hard.

Merijn Schoeber: You made it out, though. So today we’re going to hit a leg workout again and then hope that next week we can hit upper body. But we’ll see how that works out. A little bit of rest is never too bad. So, I’m going to take you guys through his workout.

All right, so we started off with the dead lift, first exercise on the other day. So, he has two different days, the legs A and legs B day, and he rotates between that because he does legs every other day. So, on the other day we started off with squats instead and then do stiff-legged dead lift afterwards for the hamstrings. So, the first day, he started off with hamstrings, other day with quads.

Now, we’re going to move on to the squat. And he was saying like, “I want to get under the guard.” And he said, “How are we going to do the thing in our neck?” Like the neck pad, I think, I believe it’s called. And we don’t. Because he says it hurts if you don’t. The thing is, it will hurt like the first two or three times and then the pain will be gone. It also depends where you place it. You don’t want to place it like in your neck bone. You actually want to –

Willem Rebergen: On your shoulders.

Merijn Schoeber: – do shrugs, get it on the trap, on the trap muscle. Not everybody has like huge traps. I got skinny traps myself but you can still place it there on your upper back.

Willem Rebergen: You don’t have good traps?

Merijn Schoeber: Hmm?

Willem Rebergen: You don’t have good traps?

Merijn Schoeber: My traps are pretty bad. Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: It’s like a weak point?

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah, yeah. It’s one of my weak points. They know.

Willem Rebergen: I saw that you’re also pretty lacking on your chest.

Merijn Schoeber: Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate that.

Willem Rebergen: I saw it on one of his videos. He was like – he was like complaining about his chest. So, let’s get him, you know.

Merijn Schoeber: I’m going to make you suffer today. I used to place it here on the upper back.

Willem Rebergen: Not there?

Merijn Schoeber: So not in the neck. So, the first – oh, there’s like sweat in my eye.

Speaker: Hold this shot.

Merijn Schoeber: Sweat. So, the first two to three times is going to hurt a little bit.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, yeah. He’s crying because of what I just said.

Merijn Schoeber: I’m crying because of the chest. I want a chest, bro. I’ve been working so hard to be a –

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, low key flexion.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah, low key.

Willem Rebergen: Heb je um aanstaan?

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: This guy calls himself Student Aesthetics but in fact he was school dropout Aesthetics. Right?

Merijn Schoeber: They know. Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: Get your facts straight.

Merijn Schoeber: I’m a student of aesthetics.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah. That’s a nice one.

Merijn Schoeber: See what I’m saying? Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: Like when are you going to be master aesthetics?

Merijn Schoeber: Grandfather aesthetics. One day.

I kind of feel bad for him that he has to train legs three times a week. But you’re mentally stronger now. That’s why it’s all him.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, man. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Merijn Schoeber: That’s great. All right, so we’re going to do the last set for legs, for the hamstrings, great isolation exercise. What we’re doing here is a form of rest-pause training. So basically, you pick a weight that you can do for eight reps, eight clean reps. Then you drop the weight immediately by 50% and you do eight more reps. You take about 10 to 20 seconds rest, including you having to change the weight. So, it’s pretty much back to back set. So, it’s kind of like a drop set rest-pause technique. And so, we do three sets of that in total and what we do also, once you drop the weight to 50%, you pause at the bottom for a slight second, all right? So, it’s going to be heavy.

Now we get to the actual reason why Heady wants me to train him, because I’m the king of calves.

Willem Rebergen: Are you? What? The king of calves?

Merijn Schoeber: Would you like to see my calves? See my calves, bro.

Willem Rebergen: I don’t know. With your pants on, they look tiny, man.

Merijn Schoeber: Bro, they’re huge. Check this out. They’re huge.

Willem Rebergen: Chicken legs. Who can fight my calves, man?

Student genetics.

Merijn Schoeber: Student Calfsteathics.

All right. Workout done. We can still walk. Can you?

Willem Rebergen: Kind of.

Merijn Schoeber: Kind of? At least we can make it to the grocery store and get some food.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah.

Merijn Schoeber: All right, so before I actually hang in the grocery store, we have another task because today, we’ve still got to make an Instagram picture. Of course, it’s part of our job. Now, Willem had a cool idea. You guys are going to see it in a second. What he’s doing first, he’s going to the car wash.

Willem Rebergen: It’s the shredhunterz.

Merijn Schoeber: Student Calfsteathics.

Willem Rebergen: Student Calfsteathics.

Willem Rebergen: It’s the shredhunterz.

Merijn Schoeber: Student Calfsteathics.

Willem Rebergen: Student Calfsteathics.

Merijn Schoeber: Gangster shit.

Willem Rebergen: One day I was eating apple and then suddenly the idea struck me that, you know, this could be better. This – it can – this can’t be it. This can’t be the best I can get out of an apple so I begin to think and I got the idea let’s just put it in a pan.

Merijn Schoeber: Creative mind. And it almost sounds like a philosophy story.

Willem Rebergen: Let’s add some –

Merijn Schoeber: One day.

Willem Rebergen: Add some cinnamon like this.

Merijn Schoeber: Is there cooking spray?

Willem Rebergen: Add some syrup.

Merijn Schoeber: I use a pan spray. though. Just so that like you don’t use olive oil so you save calories.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah. I wanted to eat a regular apple and he was like wait.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, wait. What are you doing, you know? First, we put it on a little bit of higher fire. To be honest, before I got into intermittent fasting and training, I had a really like a love-hate relationship with food, you know. I was always afraid to gain weight and I was actually always gaining weight before losing weight.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: You know? I was never stable. I was worried eating too little or eating too much, you know. I was trying to stay skinny but I always drove myself to the max and then I couldn’t take it anymore and I start thinking and –

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m talking about in yesterday’s video.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, and I hate –

Merijn Schoeber: I try to eat healthy all the time and I start binging and –

Willem Rebergen: And I hated myself for it, you know. And I was like, “How am I going to –” you know, I couldn’t take it anymore. And then I came across intermittent fasting and absolutely changed my life. Like now, also with the training and everything, all the insights that I got, I – my love-hate relationship with food, it completely transformed to a love relationship with food and eating for me every day is like a big party. It’s like a –

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah, man.

Willem Rebergen: – a celebration of life.

Merijn Schoeber: That’s how it’s done.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Optimal balance.

Willem Rebergen: And I can absolutely – you know, I see – everyone should know this, you know, like, I mean, almost everyone is struggling with food.

Merijn Schoeber: I know. Yeah, I know.

Willem Rebergen: Everyone is trying to lose weight and I think that after finding out all this, the insight knowing stuff is the solution. You know?

Merijn Schoeber: Definitely, man. That’s what I’m trying to teach people in the channel.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, it’s like the matrix, you know.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah, sure. Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: Take the blue pill, take the red, you know. Take the olive oil, take the pan spray.

Merijn Schoeber: Right. Like obviously, for myself, it changed my life as well.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah.

Merijn Schoeber: So that’s just – I’m trying to help other people do the same thing.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, man.

Merijn Schoeber: It makes it so much better.

Willem Rebergen: They don’t want to – they don’t want to step on the scale. They don’t want to know about calories because they’re – they know that they’re eating too much but they are not ready to confront themselves.

Merijn Schoeber: Right. Right. Yeah. Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: But actually, once you do, it’s – life becomes so much greater.

Merijn Schoeber: It’s 5:30 right now. We still didn’t eat anything so we saved all our macros for tonight and have an epic feast.

Willem Rebergen: If it fits your calories.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah. If it fits your mouth.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah. That’s what she said.

Merijn Schoeber: I was waiting for that.

Yeah, taste test. Damn. It does smell like apple pie.

Willem Rebergen: How is it? It’s good?

Merijn Schoeber: Apple pie right there.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah.

Merijn Schoeber: Thanks for the new life hack.

Willem Rebergen: But I’m –

Merijn Schoeber: Every day I see this guy getting new life hacks, new diet hacks.

Willem Rebergen: I mean, for the amount of calories, this is crazy good.

Merijn Schoeber: It’s the same amount of calories of a regular apple.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah.

Merijn Schoeber: Try that at home. I guarantee you’ll love it.

All right, so we just had our first meal there. Big feast. It was good, man. So, we basically had – it was two hamburgers, the low-fat ones made in barbecue, pretty awesome taste. And then next to it, 250 grams of sweet potato, all the veggies and stuff that we showed on the camera. Now we’re going to go to his studio.

Willem Rebergen: So, we’re now entering the cave, a.k.a. my so-called studio. This is –

Merijn Schoeber: So, this is your old house?

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, this is where I used to live. I moved away since, like a couple of months. But I still have this house because we’re building a new studio and I won’t be able to work until that time.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: Welcome to my studio.

Merijn Schoeber: The first thing I spot is all the caffeine.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, man.

Merijn Schoeber: Let’s keep working on that. Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, man. Got to keep it going while fasting, right? I just discovered these actually.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: I saw one of your YouTube videos and you were like –

Merijn Schoeber: I’m sorry, man.

Willem Rebergen: – “Yeah. I’m sipping on a white Monster.”

Merijn Schoeber: Everybody on the show gets that stuff.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah. You were like sipping on a white Monster. I got to try that shit. I got to be as cool as Merijn, you know.

Merijn Schoeber: I’m absolutely not cool. Anyway, so, this is where it all happens, huh?

Willem Rebergen: This is where it goes down. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Merijn Schoeber: So, the new studio always got to be like a lot bigger.

Willem Rebergen: It’s going to be really, really good.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: But, actually, I’m okay with this also, you know.

Merijn Schoeber: For sure.

Willem Rebergen: It’s like, you know what? I had a studio and it was full of equipment. It was full of synthesizers and whatever and at one point, I was like, “Man, I’m not using any of this.”

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: I’m only using my ears, a couple of speakers and a computer and I just got rid of everything. Nowadays, I only need is really a computer and, I mean, I want to be able to make music everywhere, not just in the studio, you know.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah, and you travel a lot.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah. So, I mean, a laptop and headphones will do, but I mean, I prefer studio speakers because they give me ability to make my music sound better because you’re just able to hear more on speakers like that.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah, sure.

Willem Rebergen: So, what you see here is like all these panels.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah,

Willem Rebergen: Yeah. They’re like – if you take away all of that, this will sound like a bathroom. I create ideas on the road because I’m also very – always very inspired on the road.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah, yeah, for sure.

Willem Rebergen: A lot of times when I’m sitting here and I have nothing to start with, I feel like, man, I want to go outside. I want to do other things.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: But when I’m on the road and when I have no distractions, I’m like, “Let’s make music,” you know, and I create ideas and then I come back home and I just, you know, make them perfect here.

Merijn Schoeber: Finalize it.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, finalize it. Yeah.

Merijn Schoeber: Sweet.

Willem Rebergen: This is –

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: This is what I think the best picture ever taken of me and it was at Defqon 2016, one year ago from now and actually, my girlfriend took it and it was the most beautiful day of my life.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: So, I’m going to give it a very nice spot in my new house.

Merijn Schoeber: For sure, for sure.

Willem Rebergen: This is what destiny looks like.

Merijn Schoeber: This is what destiny looks like on a screen. Damn. This is sick.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah. And these are all folders.

Merijn Schoeber: Oh right, right.

Willem Rebergen: So, you have to imagine that every –

Merijn Schoeber: Oh shit.

Willem Rebergen: – like every lane has a sound in it, you know, and this is like all the effects in the song. Like, for example, it sounds like this –

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: – to give, you know, impact and this is all the vocal stuff. This is actually me. The vocals is me.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, yeah, yeah. That’s my voice. This is like the melody stuff, you know.

Merijn Schoeber: Right. So, where do you start when producing a song, right?

Willem Rebergen: I almost always start with text and melody, right. For me, that’s the basis of the whole thing.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah. Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: You know, I start with an idea. So, what is the reason for me to make this song, you know? I don’t want it to be just another song. Like, when I make a song, I want it to have a purpose or a right to exist.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: You know. And it has to contribute something to everything that’s already out there. The process of thinking about making a new song, what the idea is going to be, that’s the most difficult thing, you know, and then, the rest is skill.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: Skill of being able to hear everything clearly and technique, you know, but that’s – the creative part is the most difficult part, you know. Am I going to top all the work that I did in the past, I don’t know. I don’t know. And then, you’re sitting here in the studio and nothing comes out.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: And you’re like, “Oh my god, I lost it. I can’t do it anymore,” you know. It’s always challenging yourself, man.

Merijn Schoeber: I think that’s the fun thing, isn’t it?

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Sports and stuff help me clear my mind to stay focused and to stay in a like way of thinking that’s practical, like, “I got to do this. I got to do that.” And I’ve noticed that when working out, it helps me to stay positive.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: And to think in a very efficient way. Like, I also had times where I’m like too much in the studio, only sitting on the couch and I’m like thinking too much about unnecessary stuff like where am I going to be in five years or blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: Like, completely you can’t know. And since I started working out, maybe it sounds a bit farfetched for some people, but it changed my – it helps me to change my thinking into –

Merijn Schoeber: Oh man, it is for me as well. I think to a lot of people.

Willem Rebergen: I mean, we’re meant to move, you know. We’re meant to work our bodies.

Merijn Schoeber: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Willem Rebergen: So, yeah, that’s kind of how we ended up here, right? You helped me make this song, right? You didn’t even know about it.

Merijn Schoeber: I appreciate that, though, but I’m not going to take any credit for that.

Right, so, we’re right to the epic dessert that I was talking about. So first of all, I got to thank here. There’s actually a recipe to the and it is on my YouTube channel. It’s actually an article on my website. So, I’ll link that in the description box down below. It’s basically healthy pancakes. Oats, banana and then with your four egg whites, you can also do egg yolks. We wanted to save some fats because we got plenty of fats right here that we’re going to add as a topping.

Willem Rebergen: This is when the healthy part stops.

Merijn Schoeber: This is when the healthy part stops and where you talk about the balance, right? He takes the balance a little bit, too much balance in my opinion. But, hey, it can be done sometimes. So, what we do is we track all our food which is why we’re able to eat foods like this. Regular will see this as a cheat day. This is just a regular day in our life. It’s not a cheat day.

I’m going to be more shredded yesterday than I was today which is the cool part, all right? So, as long as you track all that, so, what we do, we have an app called MyFitnessPal. You can do it with a different app as well. I really like this one, Karamel Sutra Core. We’ll just scan the label. Bam, it’s that easy.

Willem Rebergen: Sometimes life is just good, man.

Merijn Schoeber: All right, so, this is the meal. So, we got the healthy pancake recipe that he turned into a little bit more unhealthy. It’s just so good though, so freaking good, right? And in total, this is only 844 calories. So, we got one banana, 80 grams of oats, the four egg whites, 100 grams of the Karamel Sutra Ben & Jerry’s, 20 grams of Nutella. So, the macros in total are 122 carbs, 27 grams of fat, and 23 grams of protein.

So, I was just telling him that we actually look like massive starters. We’ll just sit here and eat

Willem Rebergen: And we’re just laughing like we’re stoned as well.

Merijn Schoeber: We’re not, for the record.

Willem Rebergen: Huh?

Merijn Schoeber: Are we? Nobody knows. Anyway, so, we’re going to finish off with more – this is – it’s a small Magnum though, all right. This will put my macros at a total of 72 fats. I’m shooting for 70 a day, 124 protein. I still got protein left because I’m shooting for 170 protein and about 300 carbs. I got 50 carbs left.

So, that’s crazy. I can go home, still eat more food. It’s already almost 11 o’clock and I’m getting shredded as hell at the moment. Life is very good, man, if you do this correctly. And so, the plan I have him on is actually to bulk up because he is already like really, really lean. He doesn’t weigh that much and he wants to put on more muscle. So, I’m sure we can put on, you know, at least 5kgs of muscle this year, I think even a little bit more to be honest. So, it’s got to be a cool process and we’re going to, you know, film it as well and show you guys how he looks from time to time.

Willem Rebergen: I feel like a woman when eating this because it sounds like you’re trying to seduce someone with that bite like – it’s really looking good though.

Merijn Schoeber: It is good. Which one is it – the double peanut butter, right?

Willem Rebergen: Yeah, the double peanut butter.

Merijn Schoeber: Try that at home if you have macros left. All right, with that said, I want to wrap up today’s vlog. Make sure to give Willem Headhunterz a follow. Links will be at the description box down below.

We got some cool stuff planned next week. Are we going to tell them what we’re going to do yet?

Willem Rebergen: No.

Merijn Schoeber: No. We’re not going to tell you yet.

Willem Rebergen: No.

Merijn Schoeber: Just wait for some epicness. So, make sure to subscribe to both of our channels and make sure to vote for him on the DJ Mag as well.

Willem Rebergen: I’m you’re man.

Merijn Schoeber: He’s the man. Make sure to do so.

Willem Rebergen: If you like it a little bit harder though.

Merijn Schoeber: And if you don’t like it, make sure to do it for me anyway.

Willem Rebergen: My music is good to work out to.

Merijn Schoeber: Definitely, man, definitely.

Willem Rebergen: You should try it out, HARD with STYLE.

Merijn Schoeber: Should check it out. So, like this video if you like the video and see you guys in the next one.

Willem Rebergen: Are you done because I want to eat my Magnum?

Merijn Schoeber: Please.

Willem Rebergen: See you.
